Massiel Medina Ferrara

Planning Director, County of Hudson

Massiel Medina Ferrara is currently the Planning Director for the County of Hudson. She started as a Principal Planner in 2004 and became Planning Director and Board Secretary to the Hudson County Planning Board in 2012. Prior to joining Hudson County, she worked for New York City’s Housing Authority and served as Principal Transportation Planner for the Morris County Department of Transportation. She also worked as a Senior Business Systems Analyst for Prudential Financial, Inc. from 1996-2001. 

Throughout her career, Mrs. Ferrara has led many open space initiatives, transportation projects and land development plans. In her role as Hudson County Planning Director, she oversees the Hudson County Planning Board, Open Space Trust Fund Program, Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) committee, Geographic Information Systems and various transportation studies. 

She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Boston College, where she studied Sociology and Economics and received a Masters in Urban Planning with a specialization in Public Finance from New York University’s Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service.  She is a licensed Professional Planner with the State of New Jersey and is certified with the American Institute of Certified Planners.
